WHAT WE DO
When You Need a Shoe Lift Removed
Shoe lift removal means separating an existing external lift from the sole, cleaning off the old adhesive and material, and finishing the shoe so it can be worn as-is or rebuilt. People ask for it in three situations:
- The height changed. After surgery, limb lengthening, or a new measurement, the old lift is now too tall or too short. We remove it and build the correct height — see shoe lift adjustment.
- The old lift was badly made. Heavy, square-edged, peeling, or nailed on. We remove it and rebuild it properly — full-length, tapered, colour-matched.
- The lift is no longer needed, or the shoes are being passed on. We remove it and restore the sole as close to original as the shoe allows.
We can remove lifts made by other shops, by orthotic labs, or at home, on any shoe type — sneakers, boots, dress shoes, sandals.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Shoe Lift Removal Questions
Click any question to expand the answer.
Can any shoe lift be removed?
Almost always. Bonded lifts separate cleanly; nailed or screwed lifts take more work but come off. The one limit is a shoe whose original sole was cut away entirely when the lift went on — we can still rebuild it, but not restore the original look. Send us a photo if you are unsure.
Will the shoe look normal afterward?
If the original sole is intact underneath, yes: we clean the adhesive, refinish the edge and colour-match. If the old lift replaced part of the sole, we rebuild that section.
Can you remove a lift you did not install?
Yes. We regularly remove lifts made by other shops, orthotic labs and DIY builds.
How do I order a removal?
Use the normal order form, choose the new lift height if you want one, and write “remove existing lift” in the notes. For removal only, contact us first for a quote.
How long does it take?
Removal and rebuild are completed together in 1–3 business days once your shoes arrive. Shipping is free both ways.
