WHAT WE DO

When a Shoe Lift Needs Adjusting

A shoe lift adjustment is a removal and a rebuild: we take the existing lift off, clean the sole, and bond in a new full-length lift at the new height, tapered and colour-matched like any of our lifts. It is the normal way to change height, because a bonded lift cannot simply be shaved down or stacked up without losing the taper and the finish.

Adjustments are usually needed when:

  • Your correction is staged. Your clinician started you at part of the difference and now wants the next step — for example 1″ up to 1 1/2″.
  • Your difference changed. After hip or knee replacement, fracture healing, limb lengthening, or growth in a child.
  • The old lift is wrong. Too tall, too short, heel-only, or built without a taper so it walks flat.
  • You want a lighter build. Same height, rebuilt with honeycomb construction.

We adjust lifts we built and lifts from anywhere else. Bring the new height from your doctor, physical therapist or a fresh measurement with our free measuring kit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Shoe Lift Adjustment Questions

Click any question to expand the answer.

Can you make my lift shorter instead of rebuilding it?

Not well. Cutting a bonded lift down removes the toe taper and the finished edge, so it walks and looks worse. Removing and rebuilding at the new height costs $19.99 more and gives you a proper lift.

Can you make it taller by adding a layer?

We rebuild rather than stack. A stacked lift has a seam that can separate and no proper taper. The rebuilt lift is one piece at the full new height.

How often do people adjust?

Staged corrections are often stepped up every few months on a clinician’s schedule; children may need a new height with each shoe size. There is no limit to how many times a pair can be adjusted while the shoe itself is sound.

Can you adjust a lift from another shop?

Yes. We remove any external lift and rebuild it to your new height.

How do I order an adjustment?

Use the order form, enter the new height, and write “remove existing lift” in the notes. If you are not sure of the height, contact us first.
