WHAT IT IS

What a 3/4 Inch Shoe Lift Does

A 3/4 inch shoe lift (about 19 mm, or 2 cm) is the first height where the build matters as much as the measurement. At this thickness a heel insert is out of the question, and a badly made external lift starts to feel like walking on a plank. We build ours full-length with a tapered toe so the shoe keeps its roll — which is why most people forget it is there.

Height band: 5/8″ – 3/4″ (16–19 mm). Price: $84.99 per pair, any shoe type, free shipping both ways. Turnaround: work completed in 1–3 business days once your shoes arrive.

Who a 3/4 Inch Lift Is For

  • A measured difference of roughly 5/8″ to 3/4″, or a larger difference that your clinician wants to correct in part.
  • Post-surgical differences after hip replacement or fracture repair that are too big for an insert.
  • Work boots and hiking boots, where the deep outsole hides a 3/4″ build completely.
  • Anyone who has been wearing a stack of inserts and wants one permanent, invisible fix.

This page is general guidance, not medical advice. For any difference over about 1/2″, or if you have pain, confirm the lift height with your doctor or physical therapist first. Our page on signs you need a shoe lift includes a tool to find a specialist near you.

HOW WE BUILD IT

How We Build a 3/4″ Lift

The sole is split and a 3/4″ full-length layer is bonded in. From the ball of the foot forward we taper the layer so the toe still bends and the step rolls through; without that taper a lift this thick makes you walk flat-footed. The heel and sides are shaped to the shoe and colour-matched.

At this height we offer two useful add-ons: honeycomb construction ($9.99), which removes weight without losing strength, and rigid material ($19.99) for heavy use or sports. Neither is required — the standard build is what most people choose.

OUR WORK

3/4 Inch Range Lifts From Our Workshop

Boots and sneakers hide a 3/4″ lift best, but we build it into dress shoes, casual shoes and sandals as well. The photos show work boots, hiking boots and a leather boot.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

3/4 Inch Shoe Lift Questions

Click any question to expand the answer.

My discrepancy is 2 cm — is 3/4 inch right?

2 cm is 0.79″, so a 3/4″ lift is the closest standard height. Whether you correct the full 2 cm or part of it is your clinician’s call; for long-standing differences many start below the full amount. Our free measurement kit helps confirm the number before you order.

Will a 3/4 inch lift feel stiff?

Not when it is tapered. The forefoot taper keeps the natural roll, and our standard material flexes with the shoe. If you are on your feet all day and want it lighter, add honeycomb construction.

Is it obvious from the outside?

On boots and most sneakers it is very hard to spot because the outsole is already thick. On a thin dress shoe you will see a slightly deeper sole, colour-matched so it reads as the shoe’s design.

Do I need a doctor’s prescription?

No prescription is required to order. We do recommend a doctor or physical therapist confirm any difference over about 1/2″, and we work directly with clinicians who send us prescribed heights. See our page for doctors and clinicians.

What does a 3/4 inch shoe lift cost?

$84.99 per pair, shipping included both ways. Honeycomb +$9.99, rigid material +$19.99, removing an old lift first +$19.99. Children’s shoes get $10 off. See shoe lift pricing.
